Trip Overview

The Ganesh Himal base camp trek is a unique and relatively less explored trek offering adventure, cultural experience, and natural beauty. We trek through the Ruby Valley, surrounded by a diverse range of flora and fauna, including rare species of medicinal herbs, wildflowers, and a variety of bird species. We trek in Nuwakot, Rasuwa, Dhading, and Gorkha districts so that you can explore the diverse culture of these areas.

We can experience Tamang culture and tradition, as this region is home to the Tamang community which is still untouched by modern lifestyle. Ganesh Himal is named after the Hindu god of good fortune, Ganesh, which offers spectacular views of the Ganesh Himal and other mountain ranges, including remote valleys, deep gorges, hot springs, and lush forests.

The trek's total duration, including arrival and departure, is 16 days long. Almost this trek is camping, and in a few places, there is a facility of homestay. You can experience local Tamang food habits and different food. The remote isolated region with its unique combination of adventure, cultural experience, and natural beauty, makes this trek an ideal option for trekkers to experience the wilderness of Ganesh Himal and Ruby valley.

Detail Itinerary

  • Day 01: Arrival at Kathmandu Airport and Transfer to Hotel

    Upon arrival at Kathmandu airport, one of our office representatives will greet you and assist you to transfer in the planned hotel.

  • Day 02: Team Interaction, Permit Management, and Verified Final Checklist of Trekking Equipment and Half-day City Tour of Kathmandu

    The trekkers will have the opportunity to meet their team and interact with each other. In the morning, we process for necessary permits and send office staff to collect them from the authorized office. We arrange and finalize the list of our trekking gear before lunch. In the afternoon, the trekkers will embark on a half-day city tour of Kathmandu, visiting some of the city's historical and cultural landmarks such as Swoyambhunath, Bouddhanath, and Pashupatinath.

  • Day 03: Drive from Kathmandu to Syaphrubensi (1,550M) – 8 to 9 Hours.

    After breakfast, we drive towards Syaphrubensi via Tirsuli bazaar. It takes around 8-9 hours to reach Syaphrubensi. The drive will provide an opportunity to enjoy the scenic beauty of the countryside. Overnight stay at lodge/local hotel.

  • Day 04: Trek from Syaphrubensi to Gatlang (2,240) – 6 to 7 Hours walk

    From today, we start walking in the Langtang region's remote villages. The trek takes us from Syaphrubensi to Gatlang, a small and beautiful mountain village. We walk for 6-7 hours to reach Gatlang via rhododendron forests and terraced fields. While trekking, We can see beautiful views of the surrounding mountains and the Tamang heritage. Overnight stay at lodge/local hotel.

  • Day 05: Trek from Gatlang to Somdang (3,271) – 7 to 8 Hours walk

    We trek through several small villages and cross suspension bridges over rivers. It takes a 7-8 hours walk to reach Somdang from Gatlang. We can view majestic mountain peaks during trekking from the trekking trail and can also observe the local lifestyle and culture. Overnight stay at lodge/local hotel.

  • Day 06: Trek from Somdang to Pangsang Pass (3,842) – 4 to 5 Hours walk

    Today is comparatively difficult since the trail is steep and rocky. It takes only 5 hours to reach Pangsang pass. We explore around the pass and stay overnight nearby the lodge/hotel.

  • Day 07: Trek from Pangsang Pass to Shertung/Chalise (2,000M) – 6 to 7 Hours walk

    Today, it is quite easy to walk as compared to the previous day. It takes 6-7 hours to reach Shertung from Pangsang pass. We will cross several streams, small villages in the way to Shertung. Overnight stay at lodge/local hotel.

  • Day 08: Trek from Chalise to Hindung (2,420M) – 6 to 7 Hours walk

    On the eighth day, we will walk from Chalise to Hindung. The trail is relatively easy and takes about 6 to 7 hours to reach the Hingdung. Overnight stay at lodge/local hotel.

  • Day 09: Hindung to Rajganj Kharka (3,300) – 6 to 7 Hours walk

    We will continue our trek from Hindung to Rajganj Kharka, which will take approximately 6 to 7 hours. The trail offers breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains and glaciers. Overnight stay at lodge/local hotel.

  • Day 10: Rajganj Kharka to Kalo Seto Kunda (Black and White Lake) Ganesh Himal Base Camp (3,700) – 7 to 8 Hours walk

    We trek from Rajganj Kharka to Kalo Seto Kunda and the Ganesh Himal Base Camp. It takes about 7 to 8 hours, and we will be walking through forests and alpine meadows. Overnight stay at lodge/local hotel. From the Ganesh Himal base camp, we will see the surrounding mountains, including the majestic peaks of the Ganesh Himal range. Overnight stay at lodge/local hotel.

  • Day 11: Explore around Ganesh Himal Base Camp

    Today is a free day, we will rest and relax at base camp. We explore nearby villages and spend the remaining time at the base camp. Overnight stay at lodge/local hotel.

  • Day 12: Ganesh Himal Base Camp to Rajganj Kharka – 7 to 8 Hours walk

    We retrace the same trail to return to Rajganj Kharka. Overnight stay at lodge/local hotel.

  • Day 13: Rajganj Kharka to Chalise (2,000M) –7 to 8 Hours walk

    We will continue to retrace our steps to return to Chalise from Rajganj Kharka. Overnight stay at lodge/local hotel.

  • Day 14: Chalise to Sapchet (1,500M) –5 to 6 Hours walk

    On the fourteenth day, we will continue our walk from Chalise to Sapchet. It is easy and takes about 5 to 6 hours to reach the Sapchet. Overnight stay at lodge/local hotel.

  • Day 15: Sapchet to Darkha (1,200M) – 5 to 6 Hours walk

    We continue our trek from Sapchet to Darkha which is relatively easy and takes about 5 to 6 hours to reach Darkha. Overnight stay at lodge/local hotel.

  • Day 16: Dharkha to Khahare (700M) –7 to 8 Hours walk

    On this day, we trek to Khahare bazaar. We stroll around Khahare bazaar. Overnight stay at lodge/local hotel.

  • Day 17: Drive back to Kathmandu (1,360m)- 6 to 7 Hours drive

    We take a jeep from Khahare Bazaar to Kathmandu. We check in to the hotel. Rest and relax at the hotel.

  • Day 18: Explore Kathmandu Valley

    We have an opportunity to explore the hidden gem of Kathmandu valley. We will visit Bhaktapur Durbar square, Patan Durbar square, and other remaining heritage sites in Kathmandu. Rest of the day, we will enjoy having food and drinks at Thamel.

  • Day 19: Departure

    One of our office representatives will assist you to reach the airport three hours before your flight schedule.
