Trip Overview

Gosaikunda is located in the Langtang National Park. It is named after the holy lake Gosaikunda Lake. The main highlight of this trek is Gosaikunda lake which carries great significance for Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims. This region is believed to consist of more than 100 lakes. Among all the lakes, Surya Kunda (named after the shape of the sun). It is located at an altitude of 4800 m. The altitude is similar to that of the highest mountain in Italy, Monte Bianco. Gosaikunda Lake is located at an altitude of 4380 m. The trek starts from Sundarijal and goes to Chisapani; from there, you go to Thadepati and cross the Surya Kunda pass to reach the Gosaikunda lake.

Gosaikunda Trek is one of the shortest, but the altitude gain is steep, which could be a problem for people suffering from Lung disease. At the peak of the trek, the trekker will have an incredible view of the Mountains like Mt Langtang Lirung (7227 m), Ganhenpo (6378 m), Langtang Lirung II (6596 m), Ganesh I, 7,422 m (24,350 ft), Mt Manaslu, and many other mountains peaks around the regions. In the trek we will have an opportunity to encounter wildlife and different species in Langtang National Park and also full of Rhododendron, Lush green Pine forest. This trek can be done in 2 seasons. Spring and Autumn seasons are among the best time to trek in the region.

Detail Itinerary

  • Day 01: Arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport, Kathmandu and transfer to hotel

    Upon your arrival in Kathmandu airport, Jugal Himal representative will greet you and assist you to reach hotel. You will be served with welcome dinner with Nepali cultural show. Few discussions for entire travel plan during dinner. Overnight stay in hotel.

  • Day 02 – Explore History and Culture of Kathmandu Valley

    Kathmandu valley comprises of unique tradition and culture with beautiful world heritage sites. Within the valley, there are seven world heritage sites: Kathmandu Durbar Square, Swoyambhunath, Bouddhanath, Pashupatinath, Changunarayan, Bhaktapur Durbar Square and Patan Durbar square. You have choices among these heritage sites to visit in a day tour. Patan Durbar square, Swoyambhunath and Bouddhanath can be visited or you can think of organic town Bhaktapur and Pashupati one of the greatest temples of Hindu. Even Kathmandu Durbar square can be visited during evening time or in morning time. It is near- by Thamel. 

    The Durbar Square of Kathmandu holds many old palaces, buildings, temples and statues from medieval times. The destructive earthquake of 2015 destroys many monuments which are currently being repaired and rebuilt in a similar look as before. Overnight stay in a hotel. 

  • Day 03 Drive from Kathmandu to Sundarijal and then trek to Chisapani(2165m)

    We will finish breakfast early in the day and start our journey with an hour drive to Sundarijal. Trek from Sundarijal to Chisapani for 4 to 5 hrs. From Sundarijal, we will start our trekking. This journey begins on the outskirts of Kathmandu. We will hike more than 600m altitudes in the day. We will pass through wild flora fauna, including rhododendron trees. In the mid-way, we will walk past a reservoir. This is a famous place for short hikers and a picnic spot for the people of the valley. After trekking for about 4 to 5 hours, we will reach Chisapani and rest for the day with the view of Langtang, Manaslu, Ganesh Himal, Annapurna, and Himchuli.

  • Day 04: Chisapani to Kutumsang(2,470m) (4/ 5 hrs trek)

    We will start our day after finishing our trek and hike for around 4 to 5 hours. It will be a day to acclimatize and spend the day in the local village. One can say that these trails highlight the beauty of the Helambu region as a whole. We will walk up and down the green hills to reach the natural viewpoint. Kutumsang is a local tribe village in the mid-way.

  • Day 5: Kutumsang to Thadepati (3,510m) 5/6 hrs trek)

    The trail will be much steeper than the last two games and will be the start for the next day. We will pass mostly through the fir and rhododendron forest with not many permanent settlements. After trekking for about five to six hours, we will pass through the Magen Goth (3,150), a cowshed region and reach our destination Thadepati Hill. We can have a complete scenic view of the Langtang range from the spot. 

  • Day 6: Thadepati to SuryaKunda Phedi(3,520m): (6/7 hrs trek)

    The Sunrise will be magnificent to have a view from the hotel. After the morning routine, we will start the hike, and the day will be filled with tiny forests across flower-strewn meadows and streams. In the mid-way, we will reach Ghopte within three to four hours. After a short break, we will head towards our destination and get SuryaKunda Phedi in about two to three hours of trekking. 

  • Day 7: SuryaKunda Phedi(3,520m) to Lauri Bina La Pass and Stay at Gosaikunda(4380m) (6/7 hrs trek)

    The trail gradually ascends from the beginning. We will pass through the Lauri Bina pass and reach Surya Kunda hill station. We will hike via a rugged narrow path to Surya Kunda hill station. From the top, one can have an excellent view of the Rowling, Jugal Himal, gang Chennpo, Langahisha and a few more snowcapped mountains. From this point, the trail starts downhill and reaches the holy shrine, Gosaikunda Lake, in about an hour. There are few lodges in the region, and spend the evening at the shore of mighty Gosaikunda Lake. Bhairav Kunda is right below Gosaikunda Lake. 

  • Day 8: Descend Downhill to Sing Gompa/Chandanbari and then to Dhunche(1950m)

    The trial remains ups and downs until Buddha Mandir and will be downhill from a point. You can have one of the best views of the Langtang Himalayan Range from the spot. We will decent downhill, spend some time at Cholangpati and pass through the pine, silver oak and rhododendron forests. We will reach Sing Gompa and have lunch over there and enjoy yak cheese. There is a cheese factory in the mid of the small settlement. This will be the last day of our trekking. After about a five-hour trek, we will reach, Dhunche and check into the hotel for the night.

  • Day 09: Dhunce(1,950m) to Kathmandu(1,350m)

    It will be a tiresome ride from Dhunce until we reach Trishuli. The road is pretty bad most of the time. We will get to Trishuli in four hours and then reach Kathmandu in the next four hours.

  • Day 10: Departure

    One of our office representatives will assist you to reach the international airport before 3 hours of your flight schedule.
