Trip Overview

Dhaulagiri Himal is the seventh tallest mountain in the world. Dhaulagiri region offers three classical treks in the lap of Dhaulagiri mountain: the Dhaulagiri Base camp trek, the Round Dhaulagiri trek, and the Dhaulagiri high passes trek. The Dhaulagiri Circuit trek and the others two treks share almost the same trail for trekking. The Dhaulagiri round trek is physically demanding trekking as it is located in the remote part of the Myagdi district, which holds untouched valleys, glaciers, and beautiful landscapes from lowlands to alpine pastures. Round Dhaulagiri is a fully packaged adventure that takes you up to 5300m by crossing high passes, glaciers and some remote and inhabited isolated hidden valleys around Dhaulagiri massif.

Mount Dhaulagiri(8167m) is the seventh tallest mountain in the world it is close to the Annapurna Himalayan range but separated by Kali Gandaki river - the deepest gorge in the world. Round Dhaulagiri trek rewards us with close views of several peaks above 6000m including Dhaulagiri iv 7661m, Dhaulagiri III 7715m, Dhaulagiri II 7751m, Tsaurabong 6395m, Manapathi 6380m, Sita Chuchura 6611m, Mukot Himal 6087m, Nilgiri north 7061, Nilgiri central 6940m, Nilgiri south 6839m, Annapurna I 8091m, Annapurna south 7219m, Fishtail 6997m, and many other smaller peaks. We will experience diverse climatic zone as trekking continues from lowland farming valleys to alpine pasture land. We will traverse through beautiful Magar villages as we can explore their customs, traditions, and lifestyle.

For those who are thinking to test their trekking ability in the wilder zone in high elevation, Round Dhaulagiri is best suited for them. It checks your physical fitness and determination of accomplishing the hard task in the entire trekking. The trail follows high passes like the French pass(5360m), Thapa Pass(5240m), and glaciers where you need to move with the help of rope. This is one of the toughest trekking in Nepal compared to Manaslu Circuit trekking, Makalu Base camp trekking, and Kanchenjunga base camp trekking. During our stay at the Dhaulagiri basecamp(4748m) in a tented camp, the adventure that we never forget in our entire life. After descending to Marpha village by crossing Thapa pass(5240m), we connect to the Round Annapurna trekking trail where we can explore the beautiful Apple garden, and unique houses of Marpha village, and can retreat in the natural hot spring.

Dhaulagiri round trek is a complete package for the adventure seeker who dares to do adventure in the wilder region far from hustle and bustle of a crowd and urban life.
