Trip Overview

Jomsom Muktinath trekking is the blend of nature and culture in the wild Himalayas. Buddhist and Hindu pilgrims worship Muktinath as a holy place.

Muktinath was a trekking destination until road construction was completed. At present, a transportation facility is available to go to Muktinath.

Jomsom Muktinath Tour is traditionally a classical trek that starts from Tikhedhunga that follows Ghorepani, Tadapani, Ghasa, Marpha, Kagbeni, and Muktinath. Even today, the trekking trail is used by those who love to trek to reach Muktinath. While trekking, we pass numerous ethnic villages of Magars and Gurungs with their traditional cultural practice. The wilderness of the Himalayas and the culture of ethnic people always attract thousands of trekkers regularly.

Muktinath is considered one of the spiritual and holy sites for all Hindus and Buddhists. According to Hindu Mythology, Muktinath temple is of lord Vishnu which is one of the sacred places for Hindu pilgrims. According to Buddhists, the holy place was visited by the Guru Rimpoche who sat in meditation in Muktinath while traveling to Tibet. The 108 water taps are other attractions of this sacred place. The eternal flame continuously flames its spirituality and holiness. Pilgrims bathe in the holy taps even the water is too cold.

Jomsom is a sophisticated well-settled Gurung settlement. Jomsom has airstrips where regular flights operate from Pokhara. The flights are in the morning only. In the daytime, Jomsom always has strong winds which do not allow planes to land and take off.

Jomsom Muktinath tour comprises both land transport and airplane. We recommend land transport from Kathmandu to Pokhara so that you can view the multi-dimension of Nepalese culture and tradition. If you have a few days in Nepal, you can fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara and Pokhara to Jomsom and drive from Jomsom to Muktinath.
