Trip Overview
Panch Pokhari trek is a holy trek in the Jugal Himal base which is in the Langtang region. The trekking was tougher for a few years as it was considered off-beaten trekking. But these days, it became moderate trekking with easy access roads up to Votang village of Sindhupalchwok district. The vistas that we see during this trekking are magnificent. Jugal Himal is the nearest peak to Kathmandu valley. Jugal Himal base camp trekking and Tillman Pass trekking passes through Panch Pokhari. We can use Panch Pokhari as an acclimatization point for those trekking. Dorje Lakpa(6966m), Langtang Himal(7234m), and many other peaks of Jugal Himal can be seen from Panch Pokhari.
There are several routes to trek Panch Pokhari. Normally we use Chautara and Votang villages as entry point. From Chautara, three additional days are added to the itinerary. You will notice communities of Tamangs as altitude increases. In the lower part, a mixed community of Brahmin, Chhetri, Tamang, and many other ethnic groups can be seen.
Panch Pokhari is a holy place comprising five beautiful ponds. There is a small temple of lord Shiva, made of Zinc and iron sheet. During the full moon in August, both Hindu and Buddhist pilgrims visit this sacred place and homage to lord Shiva.
