Trip Overview

Tsum Valley trekking is located in a protected area with a mandatory special trekking permit. The Tsum Valley is located in a Gorkha district nearby the Tibetan border which is a remote and culturally rich valley. The valley is reached through the Manaslu trekking route which is located between Sringi and Ganesh Himal ranges. During your trek to Tsum Valley, you will visit several ancient Buddhist monasteries and traditional villages which are still untouched by modernity. The trail to Tsum Valley is physically demanding and challenging one into which an average of 7 to 8 hours of trekking is essential. The rugged trail of Manaslu trekking continued until we reach the Nile. Exploration of the Tsum Valley will be a wonderful experience. Generally, it takes around 15 to 18 days to complete Tsum Valley trekking. The breathtaking snow-capped mountain views, picturesque landscapes of lush forests, cascading waterfalls, and traditional Tibetan Buddhist culture will make your trip memorable forever.  

The trekking is designed for adventure seekers and enthusiasts to learn new cultures and traditions. The influence of Tibetan culture and lifestyle can experience in the Tsum Valley. The off-the-beaten route takes you to the remote villages of the high Himalayas which showcase a traditional way of life, stunning mountain vistas, and authentic trekking experiences in the Himalayas. Detail Itinerary

  • Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (1,400m)

    Upon arrival in Kathmandu, our office representative will greet you in the Airport and assist you to transfer to the hotel.

  • Day 2: Kathmandu sightseeing and trek preparation (1,400m)

    This day will be dedicated to sightseeing in Kathmandu. You will visit UNESCO World Heritage Sites such as Pashupatinath Temple, Bouddhanath Stupa, and Swoyambhunath Stupa. While you are enjoying the city tour, our office representative processes all the essential documents for getting special trekking permits, TIMS, and MCAP. In the late afternoon, you will have a pre-trek meeting with your trekking guide and fellow trekkers to discuss the trek plan and prepare for it.

  • Day 3: Drive from Kathmandu to Soti Khola (710m)

    Early in the morning, we will drive from Kathmandu to Soti Khola, which takes around 7-8 hours. Following Prithvi Highway for two hours, we drive north to reach Soti Khola. On the way to Soti Khola, we will have lunch. Check into the lodge and stroll around Soti Khola in the evening. 

  • Day 4: Trek from Soti Khola to Jagat (1,370m)

    After a good sleep, we get up early morning and have breakfast. We prepare our trekking gear and finalize everything before starting adventure trekking. We start our trek by crossing a suspension bridge over Soti Khola. We trek through dense forests and ascend to the village of Lapubesi. We take a rest and capture the moments in our memory and camera at Lapubesi and start to descend to the river and continue trek until Jagat which is a Gurung village. Stay overnight at a local lodge. 

  • Day 5: Trek from Jagat to Chisopani (1,660m)

    The same routine of trekking we follow every day. Today, we will trek through several villages and cross the Budhi Gandaki River multiple times. We pass via farmland and lush forests before reaching Chisopani village. Overnight, we spend a night at Chisopani.

  • Day 6: Trek from Chisopani to Chumling (2,386m)

    We trek to reach Lokpa and then descend to cross a river. Again, we ascent and trek through beautiful forests before reaching Chumling village which is the gateway of the Tsum Valley.

  • Day 7: Trek from Chumling to Chokhangparo (3,010m)

    Today, we will trek through beautiful forests and cross several suspension bridges. We will also pass through the villages of Gho and Shyo before reaching Chokhangparo village. Overnight at Chokhangparo.

  • Day 8: Trek from Chokhangparo to Nile/Chhule (3,361m)

    We are trekking to the heart of the Tsum Valley where we enjoy splendid mountain vistas and experience the unique culture and lifestyle of the local people.

  • Day 9: Exploration Day in the Tsum Valley (3,361m)

    We are above 3000m so we need some rest and adaptation. We explore the Tsum Valley visiting Popular monasteries Rachen Gompa. Learn about the wonderful culture and lifestyle.

  • Day 10: Trek from Nile/Chhule to Mu Gompa (3,700m)

    Trek to Mu Gompa, which is one of the oldest and largest monasteries in the Tsum Valley. Trek through beautiful forests and climb up to Mu Gompa. Overnight stay at Mu Gompa. 

  • Day 11: Exploration Day in Mu Gompa (3,700m)

    Exploring the beautiful surroundings of Mu Gompa and can learn about the history and culture of the place. We can hike for a short duration around Gompa and can enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding mountains.

  • Day 12: Trek from Mu Gompa to Rachen Gompa (3,240m)

    Now we trace back following the same trekking trail to reach Rachen Gompa and enjoy the surrounding vistas.

  • Day 13: Trek from Rachen Gompa to Chumling (2,386m)

    We are returning to complete our trekking so we move toward Chumling today. You will retrace your steps and pass through beautiful forests and villages to reach Chumling village.

  • Day 14: Trek from Chumling to Philim (1,570m)

    We are descending to reach Philim which is a beautiful village located on the Bank of Budhi Gandaki River. 

  • Day 15: Trek from Philim to Khorlabesi (970m)

    Today, we will see beautiful farmlands and paddy fields, and small villages on our trekking trail. We cross the Budhi Gandaki River multiple times before reaching Khorlabesi, where we will spend the night.

  • Day 16: Trek from Khorlabesi to Soti Khola (710m)

    We will complete trekking when we reach Soti Khola today. We will pass through several villages and enjoy scenic views of the surrounding mountains before reaching Soti Khola.

  • Day 17: Drive from Soti Khola to Kathmandu (1,400m)

    After breakfast, you will drive back to Kathmandu, which takes around 7-8 hours. In the evening there will be farewell dinner in the restaurant of Thamel. 

  • Day 18: Departure from Kathmandu (1,400m)

    One of our representatives will assist you to transfer to the airport three hours before your scheduled flight.
