Trekking in Nepal: The 5 Best Places to Explore on Your First Trip

I have been providing the best information via blogging about Trekking in Nepal. Nepal is considered a trekkers paradise since it has lovely destinations like Everest and Annapurna. Nepal always has something new and exciting to offer to you. The views of mountains, unique local culture and traditions, and smiling faces of people always attract trekkers to the Himalayas. Within this blog, I am sharing the ten best destinations for trekking in Nepal.

1) Everest Base Camp Trekking

Everest Base Camp Trek is one of the world’s best trekking. An EBC trek covers the base of the world’s tallest peak and is a must-visit trekking destination for adventurers. Everest Base Camp trekking is a life-changing experience. Whether you are a novice trekker or a professional, there is always an opportunity to learn new things and experience the wilderness of Everest. The elevation of Everest Base Camp is 5364m, which is a challenging and rewarding one. The trail to Everest Base Camp is a stunning one that takes you to the beautiful Sherpa villages and magnificent views of snow-capped mountains.

Mainly in Everest trekking, you have the fewest options to trek. Altogether, the three high passes trek, the Gokyo Lake EBC trek via Chola Pass, and the Classic Everest Base camp trek are the most popular and available in the Everest region. Typically, these treks require 12 days to 18 days to complete the trek in the Everest trekking. You Should fit physically into the trek since you will be walking for 5-7 hours a day. Trekking to Everest base camp is an unforgettable experience in terms of the culture, traditions, and majestic beauty of this place.

2) The Annapurna Circuit Trek

Round Annapurna is a classical trekking in the Annapurna that starts from Lamjung Besishahar and ends at Jomsom, Mustang. The trail takes you through beautiful ethnic villages, lush forests, and ancient monasteries like Braga Monastery. These days along with the Annapurna circuit, we can mix hikes to Ice Lake and Braga monastery. We can explore local culture during acclimatization day in Manang. Throughout the journey, you will have an opportunity to view the magnificent Mountain range of Annapurna range. The main attraction of the Annapurna circuit is Thorong Pass (5416m) which is challenging and rewarding. Due to the construction of roadways, the trekking duration has significantly reduced, which is suitable for those with no more days to spend in trekking. During Spring and Autumn, you will have an opportunity to experience a variety of flora and fauna. There are several trekking destinations in the Annapurna region, Annapurna circuit trek is one of the best treks which is worth considering.

3) Gokyo Lake Trek

The second popular trekking area in the Everest region is Gokyo Lake trekking. One of the best alternatives to the Everest base camp trek is the Gokyo trek. The Gokyo Lakes Trek is a wonderful trek through beautiful Sherpa villages following the shadows of the high Himalayas. Gokyo is suitable for beginner trekkers. The blissful surroundings, typical Sherpa villages, challenging trails, beautiful glacial Lakes, and ancient monasteries you encounter during your trek from Lukla to Gokyo Lake. Gokyo-Ri is the best place to view the tallest mountain on this earth. i.e., Mount Everest.

The trek starts from Lukla and passes through Sherpa villages to the Gokyo Valley, where you explore beautiful blue glacial lakes. Namche Bazar is an entry point to Everest that is our first acclimatization destination, where we explore traditional and modern Market, Gompa, and Sherpa villages. The Gokyo-Ri hiking is a rewarding hike from Gokyo Lake that offers a spectacular view of Everest and other peaks. This is an unforgettable experience that you want to feel again and again.

4) Langtang Valley Trek

In the 70s, English trekkers described Langtang Valley as one of the most beautiful valleys in the world. Langtang Valley is in the Langtang National Park and is reached from Kathmandu in a 5-6 hours drive. Langtang Valley is located in the north of Kathmandu which has wonderful Tamang traditions and culture influenced by Tibetan culture. The well-known Tamang Heritage Trail, Gosainkunda Trek, and Langtang Valley Kyanjin Gompa Trek are major trekking in the region. Langtang Valley trek is suitable for beginner trekkers as it has easy terrain and well-marked trails. The stunning views of Langtang and Ganesh Himal range are the primary attractions of this trek. Besides the Langtang Valley trek, there are other treks to explore the entire Langtang region. Langtang Valley Trek is a gateway to the Langtang region that can be your first trekking destination for your first trip to Nepal.

Only a few tourists are allowed to trek in the Manaslu region to preserve the local culture and traditions. Tsum Valley can also combined with Manaslu Circuit trekking but requires another special permit for Tsum Valley.

Manaslu (8163m) is the eighth-highest mountain in the world. During the Manaslu Circuit Trek, we explored Manaslu Base Camp (4800m) before crossing Larkya La Pass (5213m). While trekking, we follow the stunning trail and mountain villages to have a full-circle experience of Natural beauty and local culture. The culture of this region is highly influenced by Tibetan culture as this region borders Tibet.
During the first trekking phase, the terrain is tough; sometimes we need to walk through snow-covered trails.
